Lilei started out in professional athletics before going to study northern and southern Shaolin quan, Hung Gar under Master Li Tingzhang and Master Cen Wanling in Guangzhou, China in 1979. She also studied acupuncture and moxibustion at Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2001. Her passion for Chinese Kungfu and Chinese medicine lead her to study Taijiquan. She has won awards in Guangzhou Wushu Competition in 1983 and International Wushu Championship in China in 2008. Lilei practised and taught Yang and Chen styles Taiji in Australia from 2002 to 2007 at Celestial Tai Chi College with Master Eng Chor Khor and Master Yan Gen Lai, and is a registered instructor member of the WTQA since 2013. Currently, Lilei learns Wu and Chen Taiji at Chen Style Taiji Academy with Master Peter Wu. Meanwhile, she mainly focuses on teaching Yang and Chen styles of Tai Chi and Qigong in the community centres in Melbourne.
